 Chinese New Year at Sovereign Hill. Two Sundays in February

Help us welcome the Year of the Fire Chicken. Special activities will be conducted on Sunday 5th and Sunday 12th February. Bring your family.

Aboriginal History at the Gold Museum for Year 7and 8. February and August only!

Wrapped in Red is a limited opportunity for Year 7 and 8 groups studying the new Victorian Curriculum History. Meet a Curator or Collections Manager, go behind the scenes at the Gold Museum to view the Pern Collection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artefacts and discuss collecting and conservation. Find out why some artefacts are wrapped in red. One hour duration for up to 25 students. $12 per student.

Mass in St Alipius - Catholic Education Week. Monday 22 May, 11.00am.

Student leaders from local Catholic schools celebrate mass in Sovereign Hill’s St Alipius Church. For invited student representatives of local primary and secondary Catholic schools. Run in conjunction with the Ballarat Catholic Education Office.
Free by invitation.

 National Reconciliation Week at Sovereign Hill. 26 May to 3 June

Gnarrwirring Ngitj” means “Learning Together” in Wadawurrung language. The Sovereign Hill Museums Association, in partnership with the Wathaurung Aboriginal Corporation, is presenting an exciting week of activities designed to deepen your understanding of our shared history.

Horses Birthday

Horses’ Birthday. Tuesday 1 August

Primary students help celebrate the annual Horses’ Birthday. Come and muck out the stables, groom the horses and enjoy a coach ride. A fun day for all from 10.30am to 2.30pm. (Maximum 120) $3.00 per student.

Book Week. Escape to Everywhere. Monday 21 to Friday 25 August

Primary schools will explore and celebrate some of the Children’s Book Council Book of the Year shortlisted books and participate in a selection of literacy and art activities using the short - listed books. Two 90 minute sessions will be conducted at 10.30am and 12.30pm daily. (Maximum 60 students per session) $3.00 per student

Eureka Day Commemorations
Christmas In The Colonies. 27 November to 8 December

This ever popular activity involves students in a 90 minute experience exploring and enjoying Christmas in the 1850s. Sessions conducted at 10.30am and 1.00pm daily. (Max 80) $3.00 per student

Eureka Day. Mon 4 December

Help us commemorate the Eureka uprising with a 1.5 hour program suitable for primary students. 10.30 am to 12.00 noon for a maximum of 150 students.
